Maja Chwalinska, a Polish tennis player, achieved her peak career ranking of world No. 128 and her top doubles ranking of No. 126 on December 9, 2024. She claimed her first senior singles title at an ITF Circuit tournament in Bytom in July 2019, following her success in winning four ITF doubles titles.

Maja Chwalinska was born on October 11, 2001, in Dabrowa Gornicza, Poland. She began her tennis journey at a young age, demonstrating remarkable talent and enthusiasm for the sport. In 2015, she won the European 14-and-under doubles championship, followed by the 16-and-under doubles title in 2016. That same year, she contributed to the Polish team’s victory in the Junior Fed Cup and reached the finals of the junior doubles at the 2017 Australian Open. Six months later, she completed a trio of European junior titles by winning the 16-and-under singles championship. Her highest ranking in junior Tennis Europe was No. 6 in August 2017, having previously achieved No. 5 in the under-14 rankings in April 2015.

Maja Chwalinska turned professional in 2018. In May, she participated in the ITF tournament held in Trnava, Slovakia. During her final qualifying match against Irina Falconi, she executed a remarkable ‘tweener’ shot, which quickly gained popularity online. A few weeks later, she secured her second doubles title in Torun. Subsequently, she finished as the runner-up in singles at the European Junior Championship, losing to Clara Tauson, and reached the semifinals in doubles alongside Weronika Falkowska. In 2019, Poland hosted the Europe/Africa I Fed Cup pool in Zielona Gora in February, where Maja Chwalinska made her senior debut representing her country in the tie against Denmark, partnering with Alicja Rosolska in doubles. In 2020, Maja Chwalinska commenced the season by traveling to Australia for the first time since 2017, marking her senior Grand Slam debut at the Australian Open, where she was eliminated in the first round of qualifying by Isabella Shinikova. During the Fed Cup Group I tournament held in Esch-sur-Alzette, Luxembourg, Maja Chwalinska once again teamed up with Alicja Rosolska in the doubles event against Slovenia. Unfortunately, Rosolska sustained a minor injury during the match, which significantly affected their chances of winning. The following day, Maja Chwalinska partnered with Magdalena Frech to secure a victory over Turkey. Her only subsequent tournament before the COVID-19 pandemic interrupted international tennis was at Altenkirchen, where she had to withdraw due to injury during her second-round singles match, resulting in her and Linda Fruhvirtova defaulting their doubles semifinal.

She secured straightforward victories in the initial two rounds but sustained a wrist injury during her third-round defeat against Clara Tauson. Chwalinska made a comeback by winning a Polish inter-club tournament at the start of December, subsequently participating in an ITF tournament in Selva Gardena. Although she was eliminated in the first round of singles by Lea Boskovic, she and her partner Linda Fruhvirtova advanced to the doubles final, where they were defeated by the Italian duo of 17-year-olds Matilde Paoletti and Lisa Pigato, the latter of whom is the junior doubles champion of the French Open.

In 2021, Maja Chwalinska encountered Clara Tauson as a significant challenge during her initial tournament of the year in Fujairah, where she was defeated by the Dane in the quarterfinals. Subsequently, she lost to Yuan Yue in the opening round of qualifying for the Australian Open in Dubai, but advanced to the semifinals of a $25k tournament in Grenoble. Unfortunately, she exacerbated her wrist injury in Altenkirchen the following week and was compelled to withdraw after securing victory in her first match. Following this, she traveled to Argentina for a series of $25k tournaments; however, she contracted COVID-19 and had to return home after completing her quarantine without participating in any matches.

In 2022, Maja Chwalinska secured her place in her inaugural major tournament at the Wimbledon Championships by overcoming the second-seeded CoCo Vandeweghe in the final qualifying round. She achieved her first victory in a major match by defeating Katerina Siniakova in the opening round.

In 2024, Maja Chwalinska, in partnership with Katarzyna Kawa, secured her inaugural WTA 125 doubles title at the Argentina Open, triumphing over Laura Pigossi and Mayar Sherif in a final that concluded with a decisive champions tiebreak. The subsequent week, she achieved her first WTA 125 singles title at the MundoTenis Open in Brazil, defeating Ylena In-Albon in straight sets in the final. Additionally, she claimed the doubles title at the same event alongside Laura Pigossi, overcoming Nicole Fossa Huergo and Valeriya Strakhova in the final match. On December 9, Maja Chwalinska attained a new career-high WTA singles ranking of world No 128.
