Ivana Jorovic

Ivana Jorovic is a Serbian tennis player. She has won thirteen singles titles on the ITF Circuit. On July 15, 2019, she reached her best singles ranking of world No 86. Playing for Serbia Billie Jean King Cup team, Ivana Jorovic has a win–loss record of 13–10. She was nominated for the Fed Cup Heart Award in 2015 and 2017. She plays right-handed, and her favorite shot is a two-handed backhand.

Ivana Jorovic was born on May 3, 1997, Cacak, Serbia. She started training in tennis at the age of 7 and proved her talent during her school years. She won the titles at the Prokuplje Open in 2009, J60 Skopje \ Jug Open and Internationale Generali Bambini Cup in 2010, Windmill Cup Carl Gantois in 2011. She was the runner-up at the Stella Maris Cup in 2010 and BNP Paribas Cup Stade Francais Paris and Torneo Dell Avenire in 2011, as well as the semi-finalist at the Junior Orange Bowl in 2011. Ivana Jorovic was ranked the No 1 junior tennis player in the world in June 2014, and was a finalist in girls’ doubles at the Australian Open and girls’ singles at the French Open in 2014.

Ivana Jorovic started her professional career in 2012, playing at the $15,000 W15 Prokuplje (Serbia), where reached the semi-finals. By the end of the season, she won her first ITF trophy at the $15,000 W15 Sharm El Sheikh (Egypt).

In 2013, Ivana Jorovic reached the second round of the $25,000 25 Sunderland (Great Britain) and the quarter-finals of the $10,000 Edinburgh (Great Britain), before winning her second title at the $15,000 Nis (Serbia) and two more trophies at the $15,000 W15 Sharm El Sheikh (Egypt). At the end of the season, she was the runner-up at the prestigious junior JA Plantation \ Orange Bowl International Tennis Championships.

In 2014, she made a great breakthrough on the junior tour, reaching the quarter-finals of the Australian Open and was the runner-up at the French Open / Roland Garros. Professionally, she reached the quarter-finals of the $25,000 Maribor (Slovenia) and won the title at the $50,000 New Delhi (India).

In 2015, Ivana Jorovic won three more ITF Circuit titles at the $25,000 W25 Istanbul (Turkey), $25,000 Zawada (Poland), and $60,000 Ankara (Turkey). At the beginning of the season, she played her first Fed Cup match, in Europe/Africa Zone Group I, where Serbia played against Austria.

Ivana Jorovic started the 2016 season by reaching the quarter-finals $25,000 W25 Altenkirchen (Germany) and $50,000 Kreuzlingen (Switzerland), before winning the $50,000 W60 Croissy-Beaubourg (France). In the summer she debuted at the WTA tournament main draw, playing at the WTA 125 Croatia Bol Open, and reached the second round. Later she played in the main scheme of the WTA 250 Jiangxi Open but lost in the first round. At the end of the season, she won another title at the $60,000 Ankara (Turkey).

In 2017, Ivana Jorovic started the season as the runner-up $60,000 60 Andrezieux-Boutheon (France) and later reached the quarter-finals of the WTA 125 Croatia Bol Open. In the autumn she reached the quarter-finals of the $60,000 Las Vegas, NV (USA) and $100,000 Poitiers (France).

Ivana Jorovic won her most prestigious title in 2018, triumphing at the $100,000 W100 Shenzhen (China). During the season she triumphed also with the titles at the $25,000 W25 Obidos (Portugal) and was the runner-up at the $25,000 W25 Woking (Great Britain). She also reached the second round of the WTA 250 Tashkent Open. During the season she made her Grand Slam main draw debut at the Australian Open, but failed to overcome the first round.

In 2019, Ivana Jorovic won the title at the $25,000 W25 Osaka (Japan) and reached the semi-finals of the $25,000 W25 Singapore (Singapore). She played at the Grand Slam’s grass tournament Wimbledon and the Master’s hardcourt tournament Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships, where reached the second rounds. She also played at the US Open but dropped out at the start after losing to Iga Swiatek (Poland).

Ivana Jorovic missed most of the 2020 season due to injury. However, she made her biggest breakthrough at a WTA tournament, although she was WTA 125. She reached the final of the WTA 125 Prague Open but lost to Kristina Kucova (Slovakia).

In 2021, Ivana Jorovic made one of her weakest seasons, winning only two matches. However, she reached the second round of the WTA 250 Hungarian Grand Prix and played in the main draw of the US Open, but lost in the first round. She was part of the Serbian team to play at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, but unfortunately lost in the start to Alison Van Uytvanck

In 2022, Ivana Jorovic reached the semi-finals of the $25,000 W25 Antalya (Turkey) and was the runner-up at the $25,000 W25 Poertschach (Austria), but did not make any other achievement during the season.

Ivana Jorovic stopped her competitive career in 2023 and became a sportscaster.
