Alexandra Abyasova is a Russian tennis player who is building a successful collegiate career in the United States with the University of Colorado Athletics.

Born on January 23, 2001, in Moscow, Russia, she began playing tennis at a young age, demonstrating significant skill and talent. In 2019, she relocated to the United States to further hone her tennis abilities, initially attending Barton College in Illinois before transferring to the University of Colorado Athletics.

While at Barton College, Alexandra achieved an impressive NJCAA national ranking of No 6 in singles and No 14 in doubles. She concluded the year ranked 12th nationally and 3rd in Region III. Her outstanding performance contributed to Barton College securing a seventh-place finish at the NJCAA Division I Championship and helped the program attain a No 4 ranking in the final regular season poll.

In the 2021/2022 season, Alexandra Abyasova was recognized as an ITA Scholar-Athlete and received an Honorable Mention on the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete team. She partnered with Laura Fitzgerald to achieve the Missouri Valley Conference Doubles Team of the Week accolade on March 15, following two victories for the Redbirds during their spring trip. Together, they recorded an impressive 22-3 overall record, including a flawless 8-0 in tournaments and a 3-1 performance in MVC matches. They concluded the season with a strong finish, winning 9 of their last 10 matches, and capped it off by defeating the No 3 team from No 10 Ohio State, consisting of Kathleen Jones and Luna Dormet, with a score of 6-2 at the NCAA Regional.

Additionally, Alexandra Abyasova teamed up with Penelope Abreu to earn the Missouri Valley Conference Doubles Team of the Week honor on February 8, following a significant victory for the Redbirds against Illinois. Throughout the season, she achieved a 26-6 record in doubles, primarily competing in the No 3 position, and a 21-16 record in singles, with a 3-2 mark in MVC play, mainly at the No 2 spot.

In the 2022/2023 season, Alexandra Abyasova was again recognized as an Honorable Mention on the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete team. She earned All-Missouri Valley Conference honors in No 2 singles, boasting an overall record of 24-7 and a perfect 8-0 in MVC regular season matches. She achieved an impressive streak of 11 consecutive wins for the Redbirds and finished the spring dual season with a remarkable 17-1 record at the No 2 singles position.

Alexandra Abyasova achieved an overall doubles record of 21-13, which includes a 20-12 record alongside her partner Silvia Pomarolli in the No 2 position for Illinois State University (ISU). The pair excelled in Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) competition, posting a 6-2 record at No 2 doubles, contributing significantly to the Redbirds’ MVC regular-season championship.

In 2023, Alexandra Abyasova, a graduate transfer from Illinois State, has finalized her financial aid agreement to join the University of Colorado’s tennis program, where she will complete her collegiate career starting in January.
